Wig Storage
By following these steps, you can properly store a human hair wig to ensure it stays in good condition and ready for use when needed.
1
Clean your wig
Before you store your wig, clean the wig. Your wig should be free from any styling products, residue or elements from daily use.
2
Use a wig stand or a mannequin head
It is best practice if you use a wig stand or a mannequin head when not wearing your wig. A wig stand or a mannequin head helps your wig maintain its shape. It also prevents tangles. This will allow air to circulate around the wig, preventing moisture build-up
3
Storage
If you don't have a wig stand, then store your wig in a breathable bag. Silk or satin bags work great, or you can use a box. Make sure the bag or box is clean and dry. Try and avoid using plastic bags as they can trap moisture and cause mold or mildew.
4
Store in a cool, dry place
Store your wig in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Avoid storing your wig in a humid environment, as this can cause the hair fibers to frizz and tangle.
5
Protect from dust
Protect your wig from dust. If the wig is in a box, you can wrap it in a clean cloth or tissue paper to protect if from dust and othe debris.
6
Avoid folding or crushing your wig
To prevent the wing from losing its shape, avoid folding or crushing it during storage. If possible, store the wig in a way that allows it to retain its natural style and shape. This is best accomplished by using a wig stand or a mannequin head.
